The online submission form closed March 5, 2025. For more information, contact Omar Smadi (smadi@iastate.edu or 515-231-0653).
The 15th National Conference on Transportation Asset Management invites researchers, practitioners, and industry experts to submit abstracts, mini-workshop ideas, and panel invited sessions for presentations on innovative practices, strategies, and challenges in transportation asset management. This conference focuses on emerging trends, data-driven approaches, and tactical practices that are shaping the future of infrastructure management. We encourage case studies, research findings, and practical solutions that highlight advancements and insights in asset management for transportation systems including both highways and transit.
Topics of Interest
- Asset Management Practices (Including Case Studies)
We seek submissions that explore successful asset management strategies across transportation networks. Case studies demonstrating real-world applications of asset management, from planning to implementation, are highly encouraged. Share your experiences, lessons learned, and key takeaways from projects that have optimized infrastructure performance, reduced costs, or improved service delivery. - Resilience and Asset Management
Resilient asset management practices are crucial to dealing with natural disasters. We welcome abstracts that address how transportation infrastructure is being managed in the face of natural disasters. Discussions on building resilience, preparing for disruptions, and long-term strategies are of particular interest. - Risk and Asset Management
Managing risks is an integral part of maintaining transportation infrastructure. This track invites presentations on risk-based asset management frameworks, techniques for identifying and mitigating risks, and the role of risk management in decision-making. - Communicating Asset Management Process and Results
Effective communication is key to gaining support for asset management strategies. Submissions should focus on how to clearly convey the processes, benefits, and outcomes of asset management to diverse audiences, including decision-makers, stakeholders, and the public. This topic is critical in demonstrating the value of asset management to ensure sustained support and funding. - Innovative Concepts in Asset Management
We invite thought leaders and innovators to present cutting-edge approaches to asset management that challenge conventional methods. Topics may include new technologies, creative financing mechanisms, advanced analytics, or novel frameworks that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of managing transportation assets. - Data Practices in Asset Management
Data is the backbone of modern asset management. Presentations should address how data collection, management, and analysis support informed decision-making. Topics may include data governance, integration of big data, predictive analytics, and the use of asset data for performance monitoring and planning. - Tactical Practices in Asset Management (e.g., Inventory and Condition Monitoring)
Submissions should address the practical and tactical aspects of managing transportation assets. This includes strategies for conducting asset inventories, monitoring asset conditions, and managing day-to-day maintenance and operations. Presentations that highlight effective tools, systems, or methodologies for tracking and maintaining asset performance are encouraged.
Submission Guidelines
- Abstracts should be no more than 500 words and clearly define the topic, scope, methodology, and key takeaways.
- Please include the title of your presentation, your name, affiliation, and contact details.
- Authors of selected abstracts will be notified by Monday, March 31, 2025.
Who Should Attend?
The conference is open to transportation officials, planners, engineers, data scientists, policy makers, researchers, and industry professionals involved in the management of transportation infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity to network, share knowledge, and learn from leading experts in the field of transportation asset management. We specially encourage staff from departments of transportation (DOTs), local agencies, metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), and transit agencies to submit abstracts to share their experiences with the asset management community.
Join us in shaping the future of transportation infrastructure management!
