PROSPER graduate student earns ACI and IRMCA recognition

Md. Lutfor Rahman

Md. Lutfor Rahman, a Program for Sustainable Pavement Engineering and Research (PROSPER) graduate student, received the Burg-Coleman Iowa State ’77 Fellowship from the ACI Foundation for the 2024–2025 academic year.

“I’m grateful for this incredible opportunity to further my studies and make meaningful contributions to my field,” Rahman said.

The fellowship earned Rahman a stipend and travel expenses to two American Concrete Institute (ACI) conventions, as well assistance finding a mentor. In all, the ACI Foundation awarded 29 fellowships in the 2024–2025 academic year, though Rahman was the sole recipient of the Burg-Coleman award.

“You should be very proud of this accomplishment. We received many applications with well-qualified candidates, but your qualifications and interview helped you secure this award,” read in part the letter from ACI Foundation Executive Director Ann M. Masek congratulating Rahman on the award.

Rahman, whose advisor is PROSPER Director Halil Ceylan, also received a scholarship from the Iowa Ready Mixed Concrete Association earlier in 2024.
