Lessons Learned From the Largest Pavement Experiment in the Known Universe
Description
Constructed between 1992 and 2000, the Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) SPS-2 projects comprise one of the program’s marquee experiments. Over 200 test sections designed to study the impacts of concrete pavement design features were built across 14 states, covering a range of climatic conditions. Key design elements include: base type, drainage, thickness, flexural strength, and lane width. The November Tech Tuesday Webinar will provide a history of the SPS-2 experiment, and will focus on key findings to date given the active monitoring of each test section from construction to the present. As part of the Transportation Pooled Fund Study 5(291) numerous SPS-2 Tech Days were held, where classroom and field visits to active projects were performed, and 11 reports documenting aspects of SPS-2 test section performance were completed. Please join us to learn more about the largest study of concrete pavements ever conducted.
