The 2013 Iowa Streets and Roads Workshop and the 2013 Iowa Streets and Roads Annual Conference are two separate events that will be held in September. See below for information about these events.
The organization and distribution of public works services differ from community to community, whether city, county, or the entire state. Some jurisdictions have no (or very small) public works departments, and other jurisdictions have a large agency serving as the umbrella for multiple departments that comprise public works functions. Whatever their structure and financing mechanism, public works functions are the foundations of civilization, and the delivery of each service requires technical expertise plus excellent organization, long-range planning, and management skills. Workshop attendees will enhance their knowledge in several key topics.
All public employees are invited to attend. Anyone who is in a leadership position, such as first-line supervisor, or aspires to be in such a position will especially benefit.
Attendance at this workshop will provide contact hours toward the Iowa Roads Scholar program.

This year's conference provides an opportunity for attendees to hear about and discuss methods for maintaining their public right-of-way areas more effectively and efficiently. Along with a slate of several relevant presentations, we will again present "mousetraps and gadgets" and hold roundtable discussions for sharing innovative ideas and inventions. Attendees will have ample time to meet with their peers and the many exhibitors.
All public employees are invited to attend. Secondary road and street maintenance supervisors and staff will especially benefit.
Iowa's 2013 Streets and Roads Annual Conference will provide vendors with the opportunity to showcase and demonstrate their products. Attendees at the conference will primarily be maintenance supervisors and others who are responsible for maintaining streets and roadways, procuring related equipment and materials, and managing administrative functions.
Attendance at this conference will provide contact hours toward the Iowa Roads Scholar program.
