The CMAT program researches innovative construction technologies and processes for the transportation industry. CMAT is a program of the Institute for Transportation at Iowa State University.

About the CMAT Program

The mission of the Construction Management and Technology (CMAT) program is to improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of planning, designing, constructing, and operating transportation facilities through innovative construction processes and technologies. CMAT performs applied research to enhance construction transportation projects and disseminate knowledge through appropriate forums.

Research ideas and partners

Research project ideas are generated and funded by a consortia of industry, state, and federal organizations in areas of relevance to meet their needs. CMAT works in cooperation with other groups within the Institute for Transportation such as the Bridge Engineering Center, the Center for Earthworks Engineering Research, and the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center, as well as outside organizations.
