One of the most consequential elements governing the success of a construction company is the ability to prepare fully detailed and accurate estimates, to include consideration of cost and schedule risk, for performing work. This training will aid seasoned contractors and newcomers to the industry in understanding how to develop bid pricing. Items covered will include reviewing the contract documents, planning the work, quantities, direct and indirect costs, productivity, and equipment and material unit costs. The training will include presentations and hands-on exercises so participants can implement what is discussed throughout the day. There will also be plenty of time to ask questions and interact with the instructor.
This training will be led by Cliff Schexnayder. Cliff has over 40 years of industry experience. After working as an area engineer for a contractor in the southeastern U.S., he moved to the corporate office as an estimator. Later he joined a major contractor in the western U.S. and opened its area estimating office in Texas. He finished his career as corporate Chief Engineer with direct line responsibility for the coordination and supervision of both the estimating and construction of projects. He was an author of AASHTO's Practical Guide to Cost Estimating and has authored five editions of Construction Planning, Equipment, and Methods for McGraw-Hill, Inc.
